Dele Alli and promotion-winning star – Three free agents West Brom could sign after deadline day

West Brom could still use the free agent market as a way of bolstering their ranks for their Championship promotion push.

The Baggies have enjoyed a bright start to the season under Ryan Mason, and there could still be scope for them to continue their overhaul of the squad beyond deadline day.

Samuel Iling-Junior and Charlie Taylor both joined West Brom before the deadline, but the free agent market is still open for business indefinitely.

With that in mind, West Brom News picks out three free agents who could be targeted to have a big impact at The Hawthorns.

Dele Alli

West Brom could make an eye-catching move for Dele Alli, after his contract was terminated by Serie A side Como recently.

The 29-year-old was a former teammate of Mason during their days at Tottenham, and that connection between the two could see Albion viewed as a realistic option by the former England international.

He was once touted as one of the country’s best players, and although his career has quickly unravelled in recent years, there could be no better boss than Mason to help get him back on track.

It would be a huge gamble for the B71 outfit to hand Alli a deal and the chance to impress, but the potential reward could well outweigh the risk on this occasion.

Josh Brownhill

West Brom have been linked with additions to their midfield already this summer, and Josh Brownhill could be the perfect option for them in the aftermath of the deadline.

The 29-year-old captained Burnley to promotion to the Premier League last term, and notched an incredible 18 goals and six assists from midfield as he helped his side back to the promised land.

Brownhill couldn’t reach an agreement with the Clarets over a new deal, and astonishingly, remains a free agent as we enter the second month of the new campaign.

The Baggies would undoubtedly face plenty of competition from both the Championship and elsewhere for the midfielder’s signature, but it would be a phenomenal signing if they could tempt him to join their ranks.

West Brom still have concerns in attack, which was highlighted by their late attempt to seal a controversial loan deal for Wolves’ Sasa Kalajdzic.

Josh Maja could yet depart the Black Country outfit amid interest from Turkey and Saudi Arabia, for whom the transfer window remains open.

With that in mind, if the opportunity to bring in a new striker arises, it could be a sensible option for Mason and Co.

Patrick Bamford is available after being released by Leeds United following seven years with them, and he could view a move to The Hawthorns as the perfect way to help him rediscover the form that once made him a hugely dangerous frontman.
